Accompaniment means a TSMO driver stays with the person through the appointment itself, not just the drive. Into the building, into the waiting room, and back home afterward.
For families who live far away, or who work the same hours as the clinic, it is the difference between a ride and a resolved afternoon.
What does the driver actually do at the appointment?
Before you go, we get what we need from the people who already know: the nurse, the residence staff, or you. Mobility, oxygen, what the person can manage alone, what helps them stay calm.
At the clinic, the driver goes in. Waits. Comes back out with the person.
The driver takes notes during the appointment, makes sure the person leaves with the information they were given, and reports back to the family afterward. You find out what the doctor said without having taken the afternoon off.
