Many trips are not paid for by the person being transported. TSMO works with the public plans of Quebec and Ontario, private insurers, employers, residences and facilities.
Here is how it works, payer by payer.
| Payer | What's covered | Who authorizes | How TSMO bills |
|---|---|---|---|
| SAAQ | Trips to treatment after a road accident in Quebec: stretcher, wheelchair, long-distance to Montreal. | The SAAQ plan, once the file is recognized. | Tell us who is paying when you book; TSMO confirms the process. |
| CNESST | Trips to treatment and medical assessments after a workplace accident, including to Montreal. | The CNESST plan. | Tell us who is paying when you book; TSMO confirms the process. |
| IVAC | Trips to treatment for victims of criminal acts. | The IVAC compensation plan. | Tell us who is paying when you book; TSMO confirms the process. |
| WSIB | Transport to care for an approved claim, on both sides of the river. | The WSIB claim, once approved. | Tell us who is paying when you book; TSMO confirms the process. |
| Auto insurance (Ontario) | Transport to treatment after a collision, under Ontario accident benefits. | The auto insurer, via the adjuster or case manager. | Give us the insurer and claim number when booking; TSMO confirms how the file is handled. |
| Veterans Affairs | Health-related trips for eligible veterans. | Veterans Affairs Canada. | Tell us who is paying when you book; TSMO confirms the process. |
| Non-insured health benefits | Medical transport for eligible First Nations and Inuit members. | The Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program. | Mention the program when booking; TSMO confirms the process for your file. |
| Private extended health | Non-emergency medical transport reimbursed by some group plans. | The employer’s or insurer’s group plan. | Detailed invoice: date, route, mode of transport and duration, with TSMO’s details. |
| Long-term care insurance | Transport and accompaniment, depending on the policy’s terms. | The long-term care insurance policy. | Tell us who is paying when you book; TSMO confirms the process. |
| Adjusters and case managers | Coordination of every trip in a file, regardless of the plan involved. | You — the adjuster or case manager, at booking. | Detailed invoice: date, route, mode of transport and duration, with TSMO’s details. |
| Medical repatriation | Return by road from outside the region: Montreal, Toronto, Kingston, and further on a quoted route. | The plan or insurer responsible for the file, depending on the situation. | Tell us who is paying when you book; TSMO confirms the process. |
